Green Street

Green Street, at the intersection of learning and sustainability, is Wayne State's celebration of Sustainability in Higher Education Month.

Hosted by the Office of Campus Sustainability, Green Street happens in October and is a month of activities and curated conversations between disciplines and comunities about environmental challenges, science, justice, the environment humanities, and much more. 

This year's focus is on environmental justice and sustainability. Our program includes online talks with a loccal meteorologst, state of Michigan policy makers, scholars, panels, and outdoor activities to raise awareness about environmental justice and sustainability.

All events are free and open to the greater Detroit and Wayne State community.

Green Street 2021 - Month Schedule:

October 5th - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

  • Grand Opening with the Green Street Planning Committee- check our social media pages for an exciting video to kickstart Green Street!

October 7th - 1:00pm - 2:00pm

  • A Review of Weather Hazards in a Changing Climatology with local meteorologist Lori Pinson

October 9th - 1:00pm - 3:15pm

  • Bike Tour with the Sierra Club to visit local sustainability projects
  • RSVP here- meet outside the WSU Student Center with a bike (use your free MoGo Transit pass!). Helmets are strongly encouraged and we ask all participants to obey bike traffic laws

October 12th - 10:00am - 11:00am

  • Talk with EGLE Deputy Director James Clift and Environmental Justice Public Advocate Regina Strong
