Waste Recovery Stations

The Office of Campus Sustainability launched a waste station pop-up in the spring of 2021 aiming to collect recyclable and compostable materials from students, faculty, staff, and community members in the Midtown area. Because of its interactive and face-to-face nature, the station allowed for engaging and educational experience for participants by looking into contamination and how much it can affect both the composting and recycling processes. Participants were entered into a system where their organic and recyclable waste were weighed each week, entered into a database, and stored for our record of waste diversion. The station ran every Wednesday at the Woodward and Warren park, and is now being held at all home WSU football games at the tailgate location and inside the stadium! See below for information regarding dates and times you can drop off your waste:

  • Thursday, September 2nd @6pm: Pop-Up begins at 4:30pm in Matthei parking lot
  • Saturday, September 11th @1pm: Pop-Up begins at 11:30am in Matthei parking lot
  • Saturday, September 25th @6pm: Pop-Up begins at 4:30pm in Matthei parking lot
  • Saturday, October 9th @6pm: Pop-Up begins at 4:30pm in Matthei parking lot
  • Saturday, October 30th @6pm: Pop-Up begins at 4:30pm in Matthei parking lot
  • Saturday, November 6th @1pm: Pop-Up begins at 11:30am in Matthei parking lot
